Golf Strokes for Stroke Survivors
October 24, 2019
New Milford, CT As part of its commitment to encouraging stroke survivors to live life to the fullest, Survivors 4 Survivors strives to find new activities for its members to participate in everyday. The goal is always to lift spirits and improve overall wellness. This week, with the help of our friends at Candlewood Valley Country Club and the Stand Up and Play Foundation, some of our stroke survivors were able to enjoy a round of golf. It may not have been a new activity, but it was certainly a favorite pastime reimagined. Greg Jacobson, former professional golfer, provided a demo for the group on a piece of equipment known as a Paramobile. The three-wheeled motorized cart enables players to cruise around the course, raises users from a seated position to standing, and keeps them upright and balanced while they take their swing. "Swing needs some work, but what a wonderful experience!" said Tom Douglas, Founder of Survivors 4 Survivors, when asked about the group's first experience golfing with the Paramobile. The golf outing was such a success, Survivors 4 Survivors is looking to make it a more consistent part of its programming.
